Struction started in 1998 as a hobby and relief valve for me, Brian Shensky, a then-12-year veteran Oracle database consultant in the Detroit area.  While concurrently catering to local Oracle-homed midsize clients through a small, focused Oracle consulting firm and pursuing an IS degree at the University of Michigan, a few things became increasingly clear:

  • Free, "Open Source" technologies initially popular in academia should and will indeed have a future in the commercial world.
  • The glamour of the late-90's DotCom web failed to place importance on good organization and maintenance of data.
  • Standards-based technical execution involving both free and commercial software can provide robust, interoperable systems that provide excellent return on investment (ROI).
  • Good internal design, especially when joined with free software, manifests a competitive and financial advantage in the new Information Age.

Struction takes a pragmatic approach to software development that considers the technical and business goals of our customers, always looking for the right blend of compromises that yield the right solution, at the right cost, right now, while providing clear opportunities for growth when the time comes.

Though never afraid of new technologies, Struction is remarkably hype-resilient, always striving to best meet our customers' goals.  More often than not, new technologies provide excellent return on investment.
